GALANGAL Alpinia galanga C/S (currently difficult to obtain; please check for availability)

Closely resembling ginger, this exotic herb has been used for many centuries to flavor vinegar & liqueur, for a spicy tea, as snuff and, in India, the oil of Galangal is valued in perfumery. It is a stimulant and has been used as a remedy for sea-sickness. Reputed to tone up tissues, it is sometimes prescribed for fever. Arabs use it to make their horses fiery.  Magick Uses: for Luck, Money, Protection, Exorcism & Psychic Development.

And heaven knows we could all use a dose of recollection or retention. No harmful side effects documented as of this date, so maybe you should brew a cup every morning . . . if you remember.

GOTU KOLA Centella asiatica C/S Stimulate your blood circulation with a tea of this herb. Add a bit of Ginkgo and Alfalfa, plus any other herb you like for taste or healthy benefit and you have a healthy brew safe for any and every day.

HENNA LEAF (RED) Lawsonia inermis POWDER Want a tattoo or hair color that is gentle and temporary? Try henna! If applied as a paste for a body tattoo, mix it with a bit of Eucalyptus oil or lemon oil, let sit for 24 hours, then apply in desired design. Add a bit of cinnamon or clove powder to alter the hue.

HOPS Humulus lupulus WHOLE FLOWERS A natural tranquilizer or a special ingredient in home brewed ale? You choose. Hops have an ancient history of being a part of the brewing efforts of monasteries, of being a gentle tea for inducing gentle sleep, or being added to dream pillows for a good night's rest. Grown in your garden, they create a murmuring harmony as the vines rustle in the wind.

 

 

HORSETAIL Equisetum arvense (Shavegrass) ~ C/S Long used by herbal healers—and also known as silica—Horsetail is rich in nutrients. It facilitates absorption of calcium, helps eliminate excess oil from skin & hair & is believed to make individual hair strands stronger, thicker & more resilient. Might also help eliminate white spots from nails & strengthen bones. Also useful for women’s cycles to control excess bleeding. Sometimes taken as a tea to clear up urinary tract infections for men or women. Use 1 teaspoon to one cup water, two to 3 times a day as needed.

 

 

JUNIPER BERRIES Juniperus communis (BLUE) WHOLE

In the 1500s a Dutch apothecary used juniper berries as one of the ingredients to create a new diuretic that he called gin. Thus, for centuries this berry has been used to successfully treat urinary tract problems & gout, improve digestion & help rid the body of excess fluid. Drink 1 cup up to 3 times daily. Caution: do not use during pregnancy.  Also an excellent spice to create a marinade for deer meat.
