its Latin name suggests, Damiana is reputed to have
the ability to stimulate the libido. Most likely this reputation is justly
deserved because of Damiana's ability to stimulate blood circulation,
particularly to certain body parts, thus earning the reputation of being
an aphrodisiac. Whether consumed as a tea (1teaspoon to a cup of boiling
water, steeped for approximately 10 minutes, then strained) or added to a
blend of other herbs in a dream pillow (where the volatile oils of the
herb are breathed in, gently, during sleep), Damiana's reputation has been
little disputed for centuries as being a viable and safe alternative to
current prescription medicines, such as Viagra.
